Transcription: [double-headed eagle] The Schaffer Collection of Russian Imperial Art Treasures ROCKEFELLER CENTER, NEW YORK April 9, 1936 #1189 A very lovely handle of pale green nephrite, gracefully curved and tapered. It is mounted with a gold cylindrical band chased and enameled in translucent white over a shimmering surface. Rubies are placed over it and are incorporated with a design of green-gold festoons. This example typifies the fastidious craftsmanship of “Carl Fabergé”, celebrated Russian Court jeweler, who has so often been referred to as the “Cellini of the nineteenth century.” From the collection of Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Nicholas II, the late Czar of Russia. From the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoye Selo.
