ROCKEFELLER CENTER NEW YORK
#2692
Miniature owl by CARL G. FABERGE, the celebrated Russian Court jeweler, carved out of a single piece of opal especially chosen for its fine color and shading.
The bird, which is of exceptionally small proportions, is shown standing on a gold perch which rests on an agate base. In its small dimensions, the details of the anatomy are correctly and precisely rendered. Two rubies are set in for the eyes.
A charming example of the work of this great artist, who made so many important objets d’art for members of the Russian Imperial family, as well as for other important personages throughout the world.
